On August 22, Rep. Lloyd Doggett (TX-37) and Rep. Greg Casar (TX-35), together with the entire Texas Democratic delegation, urged the Biden Administration to quickly intervene and pause the Medicaid redetermination process to take corrective action and ensure the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) comes into full compliance with federal Medicaid requirements.

PACT Act backdated benefits deadline extended
On August 10, Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin) urged Austin veterans who were exposed to toxic substances and may be eligible for expanded VA health care and benefits under the PACT Act to file a claim—or submit an intent to file—by August 14, 2023, to receive benefits backdated to August 10, 2022.

On August 4, U.S. Representatives Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) and Lloyd Smucker (R-PA) introduced the Vaccine Injury Compensation Modernization Act to provide much-needed updates and improvements to the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) and shift pending COVID-19 vaccine claims from the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program (CICP) to the VICP. This legislation would override the Administration’s recent announcement that COVID-19 claims will remain in the CICP through December 31, 2024.
