Washington, D.C. – On May 23, U.S. Representatives and Co-Chairmen of the Congressional Czech Caucus, Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) and Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL), released the following statement after a productive meeting with Czech Parliament Speaker Markéta Pekarová-Adamová:
“As co-chairs of the Congressional Czech Caucus, we were honored to meet today with, Markéta Pekarová-Adamová, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament, to discuss mutual national security interests and our many shared goals. Our countries have had continuous diplomatic relations for 105 years. Emerging free and democratic after overthrowing totalitarian Communist rule in 1989 through a peaceful nonviolent Velvet Revolution, the Czech Republic has been a valued partner in forging peace, advancing human rights, and promoting global security. We further express our deep gratitude to the Czech Republic for standing in solidarity with the people of Ukraine in their fight against brutal Russian aggression, welcoming Ukrainian refugees. We are appreciative that the Czech Republic was among the first countries to help arm Ukraine. We also welcome the Czech Republic’s commitment to our shared vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific region, such as deepened cooperation with our democratic partner, Taiwan. We look forward to continuing our work together to promote freedom, self-determination, human rights, security, and prosperity while confronting challenges such as energy security, cyber security, and propaganda.”
