The City of Austin Economic Development Department announces the launch of the Nexus Grant to support local small organizations, individual artists, and small arts businesses. The program will offer $5,000 grants to new and emerging applicants by funding creative public projects. On Friday, June 30, 2023, at approximately 11:18 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a shooting in the 8800 block of Redfield Lane. Officers at the scene discovered a man, Larry Jennings, lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. Jennings died at the scene.
On Sunday, July 2, 2023, at approximately 6:46 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a shooting in the 2800 block of Loyola Lane. Officers at the scene found a man, Peyton Edmonds, on the ground with gunshot wounds. Paramedics took Edmonds to a hospital, where he later died.
