On Monday, June 26, 2023, at approximately 1:23 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between a pickup truck and a pedestrian Victor Hunter, in the 6600 block of FM 969 Road. Hunter, who was in a motorized wheelchair, was taken to a local hospital and later died. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and was not impaired.
This incident is being investigated as Austin's 49th fatal crash of 2023, resulting in 49 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2022, 55 fatal crashes resulted in 56 deaths.
