On Saturday, June 24, 2023, at approximately 10:26 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between a sedan and an unknown pedestrian in the 7100 block of West SH 71. The unidentified pedestrian died on the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene, cooperated with the investigation, and was not impaired.
This incident is being investigated as Austin's 48th fatal crash of 2023, resulting in 48 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2022, 54 fatal crashes resulted in 55 deaths.
