Texas leads all states in job growth, as shown by recent employment data from February 2025. Governor Greg Abbott acknowledged Texas' role in adding the most jobs over the past year and breaking records for total employment, active workers, and labor force size.
“Texas continues to lead the nation for job creation because Texas is where the future is building,” stated Governor Abbott. He attributed the success to "pro-growth economic policies and our skilled and growing workforce," projecting a prosperous future for the state.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Texas Workforce Commission, Texas' labor force reached a record of 15,770,300. Additionally, 15,126,900 Texans were actively working, encompassing those who are self-employed. The state's nonfarm job count hit 14,254,200, following an increase of 20,100 jobs in February. Texas also led the nation with 182,300 nonfarm jobs added between February 2024 and February 2025.
Last week, at a Dallas luncheon, Governor Abbott highlighted Texas' economic achievements. Major announcements included Nasdaq, Inc.'s decision to open a regional headquarters in Dallas and the New York Stock Exchange's move of its Chicago branch to the city. Furthermore, a new national stock exchange, the Texas Stock Exchange (TXSE), is scheduled to be launched.
