Governor Greg Abbott has decided to extend the terms of Alejandro G. “Alex” Meade, III and Robert C. “Robie” Vaughn on the Texas Transportation Commission. Meade and Vaughn will serve on the commission until February 1, 2031. The Commission is tasked with managing the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and oversees policies related to the state's highway system. It also outlines a statewide transportation plan, aids public transportation development, and establishes operational rules for TxDOT.
Alejandro G. “Alex” Meade, III, from Mission, currently holds the position of executive vice president at Texas Regional Bank. His previous roles include city manager for the City of Pharr and CEO of the Mission Economic Development Corporation. Meade has been on the Texas State Technical College System board of regents and the Texas Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors. His certifications include economic development finance professional from the National Development Council and public manager from the National Certified Public Manager Consortium. He is also an alumnus of the Texas Lyceum, with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from St. Edward’s University, an MBA from the University of Texas at Brownsville, and a Master’s in Public Administration from UT Pan American.
Robert C. “Robie” Vaughn, based in Dallas, owns Vaughn Capital Partners, LLC, and various energy and real estate investment entities. He has led the TexNet Technical Advisory Committee and sits on several boards, including the UT System Chancellor’s Council Executive Committee and the UT McDonald Observatory and Department of Astronomy Board of Visitors. Vaughn is also affiliated with the UT Austin Development Board and the Longhorn Foundation Advisory Council. His corporate interests include a position on the Dorchester Minerals, L.P. Board of Managers, the Culver Educational Foundation Board of Trustees, and the Perot Museum of Nature and Science Board of Directors. Vaughn holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from UT Austin.
These appointments require confirmation by the Senate.
