Howard Lutnick receives broad support ahead of commerce secretary nomination review

Howard Lutnick, the nominee for U.S. Secretary of Commerce, has received significant backing from various sectors as the Senate Commerce Committee prepares to review his nomination. Organizations and companies within technology, space exploration, energy, and communications have expressed their support.

Senator Cruz remarked, "Howard Lutnick is an excellent choice to lead the Department of Commerce, and his vast experience will serve him well in his mission to promote America’s unlimited entrepreneurial spirit. Mr. Lutnick will play a key role in unleashing unprecedented innovation and ensuring our nation’s job creators are well equipped to expand opportunities for good-paying jobs."

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics highlighted Lutnick's leadership at Cantor Fitzgerald and BGC Partners as evidence of his capability to guide complex organizations through change. The organization stated that under his guidance, Cantor Fitzgerald became a global leader in financial services and technology.

The American Petroleum Institute also endorsed Lutnick, emphasizing the Department of Commerce's role in economic growth through its 13 bureaus focused on strengthening domestic industry.

CTIA – The Wireless Association noted that Lutnick's leadership would bring an innovative approach necessary for maintaining America's technological advantage globally.

NCTA – The Internet & Television Association praised Lutnick's private sector success as indicative of his ability to foster innovation while promoting fair international trade practices.

NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association mentioned the importance of telecommunications policy coordination within the department and believed that Lutnick's background qualifies him to address issues like closing the digital divide.

TechNet supported Lutnick by underscoring the necessity for strong leadership at a time when U.S. tech dominance faces challenges from competitors like China. They stressed that fostering innovation is crucial for maintaining America's edge in emerging technologies.
