Governor Greg Abbott announced that Sweetwater has been recognized as a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community. This certification comes after Sweetwater completed the necessary training and certification process outlined by the Texas Film Commission.

Governor Abbott congratulated Sweetwater, stating, "Congratulations to Sweetwater on earning the Film Friendly Texas designation and joining more than 175 other Texas communities that have received this recognition." He highlighted the benefits of the program, which include creating jobs for local residents and increasing spending at local businesses. The governor expressed gratitude to the Texas Film Commission for its role in supporting communities like Sweetwater.

Senator Charles Perry, a Sweetwater graduate, expressed pride in his hometown's achievement. "This recognition showcases Sweetwater’s unique character and economic potential," he said, emphasizing opportunities for job creation and investment through film production.

Representative Stan Lambert shared his enthusiasm about the designation. "Sweetwater is a community that embodies the values that make Texas, Texas," Lambert stated. He looks forward to seeing how Sweetwater will contribute to making Texas a prominent location for film production.

Mayor Jim McKenzie expressed appreciation for being part of the Film Friendly Texas program. "I am proud to see another exciting achievement for the City of Sweetwater," he commented.

The designation places Sweetwater among over 175 certified communities in Texas receiving guidance from the Texas Film Commission on industry standards and practices. The commission has played a significant role in promoting media production across Texas, contributing significantly to local economies since 2007.
