Texas has once again broken records in employment, marking significant achievements in job creation and labor force size as of January 2025. Governor Greg Abbott highlighted these milestones, affirming Texas's position as a leader in business expansion across the United States.
“Hardworking Texans drive America’s most dynamic economy,” said Governor Abbott. “And with more Texans working than ever before in the history of our great state, we continue to dominate the nation for business expansion."
According to data from the Texas Workforce Commission, the state's labor force reached an unprecedented 15,750,800 individuals. Additionally, there were 15,103,300 Texans employed, including those self-employed. The total number of nonfarm jobs rose to a record high of 14,236,400 following an increase of 27,900 jobs in January alone. From January 2024 to January 2025, Texas added a total of 187,700 nonfarm jobs.
Governor Abbott also celebrated Texas winning its 13th consecutive Governor's Cup last week. This accolade recognizes Texas as the top state for job-creating business location and expansion projects nationwide.
The Governor further announced a five-year statewide economic development strategic plan aimed at fostering continued economic growth and job creation throughout Texas.
