Rep. Chip Roy, representing Texas's 21st District in the U.S. Congress since 2019, has recently expressed his views on Medicaid reform and government funding through a series of tweets. The congressman, who resides in Austin and holds degrees from the University of Virginia and the University of Texas-Austin, shared his opinions on social media.
On March 12, 2025, Rep. Roy appeared on Jesse Kelly's show to discuss Medicaid reform. He stated that "Medicaid is often being used to scam." He criticized California for allegedly misusing federal funds by providing them to "illegal aliens and the able-bodied instead of the most vulnerable."
The following day, March 13, 2025, Rep. Roy addressed Democrat efforts against a clean Continuing Resolution (CR). He commented that “If they want to go shut the government down…” he supports President Trump's initiatives through DOGE to find duplicate social security numbers.
Later on March 13, Rep. Roy mentioned a bill aimed at increasing funding for ICE. He noted that it would assist Tom Homan with resources needed for border security and maintain operations identifying issues like those found by DOGE. He remarked that "Now we have a bill on the floor that would provide more money for ICE."
