Governor Greg Abbott emphasized the significance of school choice and its growing support during the Texas Pastors' Policy Conference in Austin. He stated, "Our most important task this session is passing school choice." Abbott highlighted that parents require school choice to find educational institutions that align with their values and cater to their children's unique needs.

Abbott pointed out that for the first time, a majority of Texas House members support school choice, although it is a slim majority. He urged Texans to rise to the challenge to ensure success for state parents. Abbott acknowledged the momentum gained in the Texas House and expressed gratitude towards Speaker Dustin Burrows for backing a universal school choice program.

Additionally, Abbott addressed concerns regarding homeschooling, asserting that Texas' homeschooling program remains strong and countering claims from opponents that school choice would disrupt homeschooling pathways. He concluded by urging pastors and advocates present to join efforts for parental empowerment and contact legislators in favor of school choice.
