Governor Greg Abbott has instructed the Texas Rangers to look into two incidents concerning the Texas Lottery. The first incident involves a bulk purchase of lottery tickets in April 2023, while the second pertains to a recent $83.5 million win facilitated by a courier service.

Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of maintaining trust in the state's lottery system. "Texans must be able to trust in our state's lottery system and know that the lottery is conducted with integrity and lawfully," he stated. He further added, "Today, I directed the Texas Rangers to fully investigate these incidents and identify any potential wrongdoing. Texans deserve a lottery that is fair and transparent for everyone."

The investigation follows an event earlier this month where a single winning ticket for an $83.5 million drawing was purchased through a lottery courier company located in Northwest Austin. Additionally, back in April 2023, an entity secured a $95 million Lotto Texas jackpot by acquiring nearly every possible number combination.
