Governor Greg Abbott has congratulated the City of Bandera on receiving the designation of Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community by Travel Texas. This certification, achieved during the program's inaugural year, underscores Bandera County Convention & Visitors Bureau's commitment to promoting tourism as a means for economic growth, job creation, and attracting visitors both nationally and internationally.

Governor Abbott highlighted the importance of tourism to Texas's economy: “Tourism is critical to both our local and state economies, supporting one in 11 jobs across Texas. Travelers to and within Texas generate more than $193.8 billion in annual economic impact and support 1.3 million jobs across the state.” He encouraged other communities in Texas to seek this certification to further bolster local tourism and job opportunities.

Travel Texas Director Tim Fennell praised Bandera for its dedication to preserving Western traditions: “Bandera, the Cowboy Capital of the World, is where Texas’ rich Western traditions come alive for visitors... Its recognition as a Tourism Friendly Texas Community reflects the town’s dedication to preserving this legacy while inviting travelers to experience its timeless appeal.”

Senator Pete Flores expressed pride in Bandera's achievement: “This achievement highlights their commitment to showcasing the rich history, natural beauty, and vibrant culture that Bandera has to offer.”

Representative Wes Virdell shared his personal connection with Bandera: “As a motorcycle enthusiast, Bandera is one of my favorite places to ride... I hope Bandera stays exactly the way it is for a long time.”

Mayor Rebecca Gibson acknowledged tourism's role in the local economy: “Our local economy depends greatly on the collaboration of local businesses, individuals, and organizations who nurture our tourist ecosystem.”

City Council Member Deb Breen emphasized tourism's impact on Bandera’s economy: “Many of our restaurants and retailers rely heavily on tourism dollars... those tourism dollars create a trickle-down approach to the rest of our local economy.”

Bandera County Convention & Visitors Bureau Manager Carita Jundt remarked on Bandera’s unique charm: “In Bandera... ‘Bandera friendly’ reigns. Hometown friendliness goes a long way in bringing visitors from all around the world.”
