WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) expressed his approval of the Trump administration's energy policies on the Senate floor today. He commended Department of Energy Secretary Chris Wright and President Trump for their efforts to promote American energy production and counteract what he described as harmful climate policies from the Biden administration.
Senator Cornyn criticized President Biden's decision to pause liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports to assess environmental impacts, stating that it had significant consequences for Texas, a leader in the LNG industry. He mentioned a ruling by the D.C. Circuit Court that revoked a permit for an LNG export terminal at the Port of Brownsville, affecting projects that could have generated thousands of jobs and substantial investments in South Texas.
Cornyn remarked, "President Biden prioritized the view of climate radicals while the interest of Texas families and our national security were, apparently, an afterthought." He further stated that "President Biden’s energy agenda put Texas workers, and their families, and our national security last."
He welcomed President Trump's reversal of Biden's LNG export pause on his first day in office and expressed optimism about collaborating with the current administration to enhance American energy production. Cornyn said he looks forward to working with Trump "to unleash American energy through an all-of-the-above approach so that Texas and the Gulf of America can once again supply the nation and the world with reliable, affordable energy."
