U.S. Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Ted Cruz has released a database highlighting over 3,400 grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) during the Biden-Harris administration. The funding, totaling more than $2.05 billion, was allegedly directed towards projects promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) or neo-Marxist ideologies.

Senator Cruz stated, “Over the past few weeks, the Trump administration has been taking a sledgehammer to the radical left’s woke nonsense. DEI initiatives have poisoned research efforts, eroded confidence in the scientific community, and fueled division among Americans. I am proud to release our investigation’s database, which exposes how the Biden administration weaponized federal agencies to push a far-left ideology. Congress must end the politicization of NSF funding and restore integrity to scientific research.”

The released database forms part of an investigative report by Senator Cruz in October 2024 that claimed political influences on scientific research under President Biden's leadership. The report identified certain research projects led by professors involved in antisemitic protests on college campuses.

In response to these findings and recognizing what he described as harmful practices under DEI initiatives by the Biden administration, President Trump signed an Executive Order to terminate all DEI programs across federal agencies.

Following this directive, NSF froze its annual grant review process and announced a review of all funding activities to ensure compliance with President Trump's order. Chairman Cruz is calling for detailed scrutiny of awards mentioned in his database.
