The holiday season in Texas is marked by a vibrant display of lights and festivities across various towns. Johnson City, Texas, has been celebrating with its "Lights Spectacular" for 35 years, earning the title of the “Twinkliest Town in Texas.” The event features over two million lights visible even from space, according to NASA astronauts.

The celebration kicks off with the lighting of the courthouse, illuminating the town square. It includes a parade called Lighted Hooves & Wheels featuring floats, horses, and classic cars. Each weekend offers different activities such as carriage rides and holiday markets. A significant attraction is the light displays transforming trees into picturesque scenes.

"Lights Spectacular has grown into more than just a light show," highlighting community involvement with local businesses staying open late and offering special deals. Part of the proceeds supports scholarships for local high school seniors.

Other towns like Holly, Garland, Blessing, Bells, and Rudolph also contribute to Texas's festive spirit. Blessing was originally proposed to be named “Thank God,” while Rudolph is named after Congressman Rudolph Kleberg. Bells got its name from church bells prevalent in the area. Garland was named after an attorney general under President Grover Cleveland but also signifies gratitude during this season. Holly brings to mind the traditional tree associated with Christmas.

Each town adds unique charm to Texas’s holiday celebrations, embodying the state's generous spirit.
