Governor Abbott has renewed the wildfire disaster declaration in Texas, as confirmed in a proclamation dated March 28, 2024. The Governor reiterated the ongoing threat posed by wildfires in various counties and authorized necessary actions to address the situation.

In the proclamation, Governor Abbott stated, "WHEREAS, I, GREG ABBOTT, Governor of the State of Texas, issued a disaster proclamation on February 27, 2024..." He further emphasized that the Texas Division of Emergency Management has verified the continuation of wildfire conditions in the affected counties.

The renewed disaster declaration encompasses a wide range of counties, as indicated by the Governor's declaration of disaster in numerous specific areas. Governor Abbott also authorized the utilization of all available state resources and political subdivisions to effectively manage the disaster, in accordance with the Texas Government Code.

Furthermore, the Governor suspended certain regulatory statutes and rules that could impede necessary actions in response to the disaster. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that emergency responses are not hindered by bureaucratic obstacles, stating, "However, to the extent that the enforcement of any state statute or administrative rule regarding contracting or procurement would impede any state agency’s emergency response that is necessary to protect life or property threatened by this declared disaster, I hereby authorize the suspension of such statutes and rules for the duration of this declared disaster."

The proclamation concluded with Governor Abbott affirming his official endorsement, "IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto signed my name and have officially caused the Seal of State to be affixed at my office in the City of Austin, Texas, this the 28th day of March, 2024."
