Governor Greg Abbott has announced that the Texas Music Office (TMO), in collaboration with the City of Hidalgo and the Hidalgo Economic Development Corporation, will be hosting a virtual Music Friendly Texas Community workshop on December 5th. The workshop aims to promote the growth of the music industry in Hidalgo and provide local communities with the tools needed to succeed.

In a statement, Governor Abbott highlighted the importance of music to the Texas brand and local economies. He expressed his gratitude to the Texas Music Office for their efforts in helping communities develop creative partnerships and create new jobs. Last year, the Texas music industry generated over $26 billion in economic activity and created more than 192,000 direct and indirect permanent jobs statewide.

Chip Adams, the TMO Community Relations and Outreach Specialist, will be present at the workshop to explain the Music Friendly Texas Community designation and the benefits of becoming certified. The workshop will also serve as the first step in the certification process for Hidalgo, which will join 53 other Texas cities that have earned the Music Friendly Texas designation.

The workshop is open to musicians, venues, and the general public. It will take place virtually on December 5th at 5:00 PM. Participants can join online using the provided link: bit.ly/TMO_Hidalgo.
