The Austin Transportation Department has partnered with Capital Metro to install 2 miles of transit priority lanes to East Riverside Drive.
The interim lanes will be located between Grove Boulevard and Summit Street and will help organize traffic flow, improve the corridor's efficiency, and enhance transit performance for the nine Capital Metro bus routes operating in this corridor.
The transit priority lanes will be installed in the right-most curbside lane and operate all day in each direction. New signage and roadway markings will indicate that the lanes are for bus use only. Other vehicles are only permitted to enter the transit priority lanes to make a right turn.
Installation is scheduled to begin in late February and is predicted to be completed by April 2021. While installation is being completed, intermittent lane closures will be required while crews stripe the road.
