Governor Greg Abbott has made appointments to the Risk Management Board, naming Jason Boatright, Jeffrey Houston, and Jason Hartgraves to their respective positions. Boatright and Houston will serve terms that end on February 1, 2031, while Hartgraves will serve until February 1, 2027. The board is responsible for overseeing various insurance services for state agencies, including workers' compensation insurance and state risk management programs.
Jason Boatright, based in Dallas, works as a special counsel at Duane Morris LLP. He has previously served as a Justice on the Fifth Court of Appeals. Boatright is involved with the Texas Board of Disciplinary Appeals and has been chairman of the Dallas Bar Association Appellate Section. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Middlebury College, a Postgraduate Diploma in Latin and Ancient History from the University of St. Andrews, and a Juris Doctor from The University of Texas School of Law.
Jeffrey Houston, from Dripping Springs, was formerly a senior vice president at Mondee Holdings, Inc. in Austin. He is affiliated with the Chartered Financial Analyst Society Austin and was part of the CFA Society Chicago. Houston holds the position of president at the Terrascena Property Owners Association, has coached youth basketball, and volunteered at Austin Ridge Bible Church. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and Philosophy from Indiana University and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from DePaul University, and is a CFA charter holder.
Jason Hartgraves, residing in Frisco, serves as a law enforcement executive. As a member of the North Texas Police Chiefs Association, the FBI National Executive Institute Associates, and FBI National Academy Associates, he has taken on various roles, including participation on the Texas Real Estate Commission and the One-Call Board of Texas. Hartgraves earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Dallas Baptist University and a Master of Science in Management from Texas A&M University-Commerce and is a graduate of the Governor’s Executive Development Program at the UT LBJ School of Public Affairs.
Each of these appointments requires confirmation by the Senate.
