The City of Austin Corridor Program Office has released a video of a virtual ribbon-cutting commemorating the completion of improvements at four North Lamar Boulevard intersections.
The intersections at West Powell Lane, Fairfield Drive, and West Grady Drive have been outfitted with new smart traffic signals. The intersection of North Lamar Boulevard and Cooper Drive had a new Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon installed. All four intersections had curb ramps and high-visibility crosswalks installed that are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
“We’re very proud to say that these improvements came in on schedule and are just the first of many improvements we’re going to be doing around the city on our major corridors,” Mike Trimble, director of the Corridor Program Office, said.
Most Corridor Construction Program work is scheduled for 2021-24, and the city was able to complete this series of North Lamar Boulevard projects nearly two years ahead of schedule.
The CCP has plans for additional roadway improvements for North Lamar Boulevard and eight other Austin corridors.
