Austin Independent School District issued the following announcement on Nov. 4.
Coats for Kids, sponsored by the Junior League of Austin and in collaboration with Austin ISD is so excited to provide warm winter coats to students across the district! Along with Jack Brown Cleaners, KVET, and KVUE—The Junior League of Austin will provide over 30,000 coats to Central Texas children in need.
For AISD families, there are THREE ways to get involved with Coats for Kids this holiday season:
1. How to Get a Coat
To receive a coat, students who qualify for free and reduced lunch services can register by filling out this form in English or Spanish. The form will close on Friday November 20. Coats will be hand-selected by a Coats for Kids volunteer and delivered to students at their AISD campus in December.
Please fill out one form per child. Contact your campus PSS or Coats for Kids Recipient Outreach Coordinators with any questions: cfkcoats@jlaustin.org.
2. How to Donate a Coat(s)
Look through your closet and collect all your gently worn coats. Swing by any Austin area Jack Brown Cleaners and drop your new or gently worn coats off between now and December 9. Additionally, you can make a donation towards a new coat here.
3. How to Volunteer
Coats for Kids is looking for volunteers to help sort and distribute coats. If you are interested in volunteering, you can sign up here. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
