U.S. Senator John Cornyn met with Rodney Scott, who has been nominated by President Trump to lead U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Following their meeting, Senator Cornyn made comments to the media expressing support for Scott's potential role as Commissioner.
Cornyn highlighted that, "One of the things that I am confident he will do is help improve the morale of the people who are on the ground doing the hard work, who know that now the Trump administration has their back, as opposed to the last four years under President Biden."
He pointed out a reduction in the number of people crossing the border and attributed it to enforcement policies rather than legislative changes. "The numbers of people coming across the border have gone down dramatically, and that’s not because Congress passed any new laws. It’s because we have a President who will finally enforce the law," Cornyn stated.
Senator Cornyn represents Texas and serves on several Senate committees, including Finance, Judiciary, Intelligence, Foreign Relations, and Budget.
