Chip Roy, currently serving as a representative in the U.S. Congress for Texas’ 21st district, recently engaged in a discussion with the Wall Street Journal, sharing his opinions on several key political issues through a series of tweets. Roy has been a congressional representative since 2019 and is known for his firm views on fiscal policies and government oversight.

In a tweet posted on April 4, 2025, Roy addressed the issue of Medicaid's management of payments. He mentioned the discrepancies in payments, raising concerns about improper distributions. According to Roy, “We could try to eliminate the improper payments... we're paying people who aren't supposed to be paid, and we are paying them amounts we're not supposed to pay them...” He praised the discoveries by @DOGE for highlighting waste.

Further discussing taxation, Roy expressed his alignment with a traditional Republican stance on tax cuts in another tweet the same day. He articulated a belief in continued tax reductions, stating, “You have sort of an old guard legacy Republican view that no matter what, no matter what anybody says, we must continue to keep cutting taxes. I subscribe to that view - if you limit government.

Roy also commented on budget reconciliation and potential outcomes from Senate discussions. In his third tweet from April 4, 2025, he cautioned against a budget proposal focused heavily on increased taxes without corresponding spending reforms. He declared, “If the Senate thinks they're going to come back and deliver a product that is fat on taxes and is not doing what needs to be done on spending that's dead on arrival from my perspective.
