Governor Greg Abbott has announced the appointment of Shellie Gardner to the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners, along with the reappointment of Michael P. Henry, D.C., and Scott Wofford, D.C. Their terms are set to end on February 1, 2031. The board is tasked with regulating chiropractic practices across Texas.
Shellie Gardner, residing in Fort Worth, founded and owns the Christmas Light Source. Her community involvement includes volunteering within the Fort Worth art scene, leading solar cooking initiatives in Ethiopia, and aiding transitional communities in Seattle. Furthermore, she is involved with Rotary International and is known for her advocacy in local and international matters. Gardner holds both a Bachelor and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University, and she is pursuing a Master of Theology at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Michael P. Henry, D.C., from Austin, is a chiropractor and TexStar Chiropractic's CEO. He has previously worked as a Designated Doctor with the Division of Workers' Compensation. Henry was recognized as the "Young Chiropractor of the Year" by the Texas Chiropractic Association (TCA) in 2017, and in 2022, he was named "Alumnus of the Year" by Parker University. He maintains membership with both the TCA and the American Chiropractic Association. He earned his Bachelor of Science from The University of Texas at Austin and his Doctor of Chiropractic from Parker University in Dallas.
Scott Wofford, D.C., based in Abilene, owns the West Texas Back Clinic. He has been actively involved with the TCA as a member, past state director, and past president. His achievements include receiving the "Young Chiropractor of the Year" award from the TCA in 2002, being named "D.C. of the Year" from Parker University, and earning the "Keeler Plaque" from the TCA in 2020. Wofford graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of New York and a Doctor of Chiropractic from Parker University in Dallas.
All these appointments require confirmation by the Texas Senate.
