Texas Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Michael "Mike" Boyd, Garry Bradford, and Todd Fox to the Texas Military Preparedness Commission. Their terms will expire on February 1, 2031. The Commission focuses on preserving, protecting, expanding, and attracting military missions, assets, and installations while also promoting the growth or relocation of defense-related businesses within Texas.
Michael "Mike" Boyd, based in Christoval, previously chaired Housley Communications, Inc. Boyd was recognized as a 2024-2025 National Defense Alliance Defense Community Champion. He has served in various leadership roles, including as a trustee of the San Angelo Health Foundation and president of the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&M University and a military degree from the Command and General Staff College. Boyd is a veteran of the Texas Army National Guard with over three decades of service.
Garry Bradford of Corpus Christi is the owner, president, and CEO of Unique Employment Service and Bradford Holding Company. He has led multiple organizations, including as chairman of the Board for the Certification Institute and president of the Texas Chapter of the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations. Bradford's educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Natural Sciences and Business from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and a Master of Science in Military Science from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. Bradford served in the U.S. Army Reserves, retiring as a Colonel in 2006.
Todd Fox, residing in Belton, is the president of First Heroes National Bank. He retired from the United States Army as chief of staff, III Corps, in 2018, after 24 years of service. Fox's educational credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategy from the United States Army War College.
These appointments by Governor Abbott are pending confirmation by the Senate.
