The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) recently apprehended a gang member and confiscated 200 pounds of marijuana in Cameron County. This operation was part of the ongoing Operation Lone Star initiative.

On March 17, a DPS Trooper attempted to pull over a black 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee on State Highway 48 in Brownsville. The driver did not comply and led the officer on a chase that ended when the vehicle crashed at the intersection of Crockett and SH 48. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities found eight plastic-wrapped bundles of marijuana located in both the rear seat and cargo area. The estimated street value of the seized marijuana is approximately $160,000.
