Chip Roy, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas's 21st District since 2019, has been active on social media discussing issues of financial independence and immigration. Born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972, Roy now resides in Austin. He holds degrees from the University of Virginia and the University of Texas-Austin.

On March 19, 2025, Roy expressed his views on government dependence through a tweet: "The American people want financial independence from the government. THE SWAMP in Washington wants government dependence. The American dream isn’t built from the dependence on government, it is built from the independence from government."

Later that day, he commented on deportation policies: "! EVERY country SHOULD take back its deported citizens. Rep. Roy’s HR 1953, the Deportation Compliance Act, would provide the Trump admin another tool to rein in uncooperative countries."

In another post made on March 19th, he discussed a specific case related to illegal immigration: "For 30 years, this criminal was allowed to game the system, commit crimes, and dodge deportation. Even being a fierce advocate for illegal immigration. Now she has been taken into ICE custody and is heading towards deportation. Good riddance."
