Roy, who succeeded Lamar Smith in office and resides in Austin, Texas, has been vocal about issues concerning national security and legal processes.

In another tweet on the same day, Roy expressed support for former President Trump’s actions regarding immigration enforcement. He stated that "President Trump is RIGHTLY using the available legal tools to remove dangerous criminal aliens Tren de Aragua, an FTO, engages in irregular warfare in U.S. territory, often with terrorist-designated cartels. These terrorist gang members should be dealt with accordingly."
Later that day, he commented on illegal entry into the United States and its perception by different groups. In his words: "You break the law when you enter the country illegally. For progressive judicial activists, this is a foreign concept. For everyone else, this is common sense."
