Governor Greg Abbott has announced that Texas is leading the nation in job creation, according to the latest employment data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. In January, Texas added 27,900 nonfarm jobs, and from January 2024 to January 2025, it recorded an increase of 187,700 nonfarm jobs—both figures surpassing those of any other state.
"Texas is America’s jobs engine, adding more new jobs in the last year than any other state," said Governor Abbott. He attributes this growth to a skilled workforce and a business-friendly environment that draws companies from across the globe. Abbott also emphasized efforts like launching the Governor's Small Business Freedom Council and prioritizing career training as an emergency item in the current legislative session.
On Friday, Abbott reported that Texas had broken previous records for total employment numbers and labor force size. Additionally, earlier this month, Texas was awarded the Governor's Cup for the 13th consecutive year as the top state for job-creating business location and expansion projects.
Abbott highlighted ongoing efforts to cut regulatory red tape and invest in education and infrastructure to continue fostering economic prosperity in Texas.
