Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed six individuals to the Texas School Safety Center Board. The appointees are Nidia De La Cerda, Robert “Rob” McClelland, James Mosley, Noe E. Perez, Michael Slaughter, and Jill Tate. Their terms will expire on February 1, 2027. The board is responsible for reporting to the Governor, the legislature, the State Board of Education, and the Texas Education Agency about school safety and security matters.
Nidia De La Cerda from Corpus Christi serves as an assistant principal for Tuloso-Midway Independent School District (ISD). She holds a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies from UT Rio Grande Valley and a Master of Arts in Bilingual Education from UT Permian Basin.
Robert “Rob” McClelland of Dripping Springs is the director of Business Development at BPI Bauerle Partners Inc. He is also a school board member for Dripping Springs ISD and serves on several boards including JC7 Foundation. McClelland earned his Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Texas A&M University.
James Mosley from Borger is the judge of the 316th District Court. He has been involved with various legal associations and was appointed by the Texas Supreme Court as a commissioner of the Texas Children's Commission. Mosley holds degrees in Finance, Public Administration, and Law.
Noe E. Perez from Laguna Vista teaches social studies at Los Fresnos High School within Los Fresnos Consolidated ISD. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from UT Pan American and a Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies focusing on History.
Michael Slaughter from Wylie works as an assistant principal at Princeton High School and is an ordained minister. His educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Studies and a Master’s degree in Educational Technology Leadership.
Jill Tate resides in Colleyville and has experience as a small business owner and project manager. She actively participates in community service through various organizations such as Grapevine Colleyville ISD Parent Teacher Association.
These appointments require confirmation by the Senate.
