U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) has expressed support for President Trump's efforts to broker peace between Russia and Ukraine. Speaking on the Senate floor, Cornyn highlighted the importance of strength and deterrence in achieving global peace.

Cornyn noted Ukrainian President Zelensky's gratitude towards Trump and American taxpayers for their support over the past three years. He emphasized the necessity of ending the conflict, stating, "It’s time for the war in Ukraine to end. President Trump is right, but the more difficult question is how?"

The senator praised Trump's initiative in negotiating a peace agreement, calling it an essential task. He stressed that both parties involved must be willing to negotiate and make concessions to achieve lasting peace. Cornyn mentioned Zelensky's willingness to engage through a critical minerals arrangement with the U.S., emphasizing that enforceable security assurances are crucial for Ukraine.

He remarked on the global attention focused on this conflict, saying, "President Zelensky and President Putin are not fighting this war in some sort of vacuum—allies of the United States and adversaries alike around the world are watching."

Cornyn described Trump's actions as moral leadership and quoted Jesus from the Beatitudes: "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God." He suggested that if Trump succeeds in securing lasting peace, he would deserve recognition such as a Nobel Peace Prize.

Finally, Cornyn expressed hope that both Zelensky and Russian President Putin would accept Trump's offer to negotiate peace by making necessary concessions.
