WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Cornyn from Texas has issued a statement regarding President Trump's recent Joint Address to Congress.

"Tonight, President Trump laid out his vision to renew the American dream, which he is already putting into action at an unprecedented pace," said Senator Cornyn. He highlighted the President's efforts in reducing illegal immigration, cutting waste and fraud, revitalizing the economy, and restoring America's global influence. Cornyn pointed out the southern border as a notable area of success with record low crossings reported by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Senator Cornyn also commented on the tone of President Trump's address: "President Trump delivered a message of peace, prosperity, and strength in tonight’s address, which was a welcome change after four years of failure and weakness under Joe Biden." He expressed eagerness to work with President Trump and fellow Congress members to advance the America First agenda.

In his role as senator, Cornyn has supported all of President Trump's nominees for key positions such as Kristi Noem for Homeland Security Secretary, Pete Hegseth for Defense Secretary, and Kash Patel for FBI Director. Additionally, he backed the Laken Riley Act—the first legislation signed in Trump's second term—which includes an amendment requiring ICE to detain illegal immigrants who assault law enforcement officers. Senator Cornyn serves on both the Senate Budget Committee and the Senate DOGE Caucus with aims to eliminate fraud and control spending.
