Texas has maintained its position as the leading state in job creation for the third consecutive year. According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Texas added 284,200 nonfarm jobs from December 2023 to December 2024, surpassing all other states.

Governor Greg Abbott emphasized Texas's role as a leader in employment growth. "Texas is America’s undisputed jobs leader," he stated. He attributed this success to the state's business-friendly environment and the resources available to Texans. "Texas offers businesses the freedom to succeed and hardworking Texans the tools to prosper," Abbott said.

The governor highlighted efforts to support entrepreneurs and innovators through investments in education and career training. He expressed confidence that these strategies would help Texas maintain its status as a national leader in job creation. "By unleashing the power of entrepreneurs and innovators and investing in education excellence and career training, we will remain the national leader in job creation and fuel America’s jobs engine," Abbott remarked.

Governor Abbott also acknowledged 2024 as a year marked by record highs in total employment figures, workforce participation, and labor force size within Texas.

Abbott intends to collaborate with the Texas Legislature during this session to continue implementing strategies aimed at strengthening Texas's economic future. "Working with the Texas Legislature this session, we will continue this blueprint for our future and build an even stronger Texas for all," he concluded.
