The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Texas Military Department (TMD) have addressed recent public reports concerning Beaver Island and Roma Island, located along the Texas-Mexico border. These reports have labeled the islands as "cartel-infested" and a "smuggler's paradise," with claims of rampant violence. According to DPS and TMD, these characterizations are inaccurate.

Both departments emphasize their operational control over the area surrounding these islands. They assure the public that the State of Texas is committed to retaining full control over its territory. "The State of Texas will never cede one square inch of its territory or allow terrorist organizations to gain a foothold to operate in the manner suggested by recent statements," they stated.

DPS and TMD's response serves to clarify misconceptions and reinforce their dedication to maintaining security along the Texas-Mexico border.
