U.S. Senator John Cornyn criticized the Biden administration's recent energy regulations during a speech on the Senate floor. According to Cornyn, these measures have led to unprecedented electricity prices for American consumers. He emphasized the Republican Party's intention to counter these regulations using resolutions of disapproval under the Congressional Review Act.

Cornyn remarked, "We only have four more days of President Biden’s absentee leadership, but he seems to be making the most of his final days as he goes out the door." He added that Americans have faced increased energy costs during Biden's presidency, noting that "electricity prices have risen more than 30 percent."

The senator attributed these high prices to policies favoring climate activists over working families. Specifically, he pointed out new regulations from the Department of Energy that would effectively ban most natural gas-powered water heaters. Cornyn highlighted that low-income households and senior citizens on fixed incomes would be most affected by these changes.

"Is there no home appliance or device that's safe from this radical agenda?" Cornyn questioned, referencing additional targets such as gas-powered cars and stoves, lawn mowers, and leaf blowers.

Looking ahead, Cornyn expressed optimism about changes under incoming President Trump and a Republican-majority Congress: "Republicans are taking note... things are going to change." He indicated plans to focus on regulatory disapprovals once Trump's cabinet is confirmed and intends to introduce measures reversing several Biden-era regulations.

Cornyn concluded by asserting that while President Biden has been active since losing the November 5 election, Republicans are preparing to dismantle many of his last-minute initiatives.
