WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) appeared on Fox News' America’s Newsroom to discuss the strategy of Senate Republicans in advancing President-elect Donald Trump’s agenda. He also spoke about an upcoming meeting with President Trump on Capitol Hill and the reintroduction of the Laken Riley Act.

During the interview, Sen. Cornyn emphasized the importance of unity among Republicans to effectively implement Trump's policies. "I’m for whatever it takes to get the job done," he stated. He further remarked, "What we owe to the American people who elected President Trump decisively in this last election is to move his agenda forward."

Cornyn highlighted the need for alignment within the party, expressing appreciation for Trump's visit to Capitol Hill. "First thing we have to do is all get on the same page, so I appreciate the President coming back to Capitol Hill tonight," he said. "I know he’s been working with Speaker Johnson, and once we all get on the same page, then we can get to work because time’s wasting."

Regarding the Laken Riley Act, Cornyn criticized Democratic policies under the Biden administration, particularly their approach to border security. "What Democrats need to realize is they lost the election for a reason, and part of it was because of the open border policies of the Biden administration, which were an unmitigated disaster for the American people, including Laken Riley," he argued.

He advocated for stricter immigration enforcement measures: "Saying that we’re going to repatriate or deport people who commit crimes in the country who are already here illegally seems to me like a no-brainer, but Democrats sometimes are slow to learn."
