U.S. Senator John Cornyn from Texas has expressed his condolences following the death of former President Jimmy Carter. In a statement, Sen. Cornyn remarked on Carter's extensive service to the nation in various roles, including naval officer, Georgia state senator, governor, and President of the United States.

"As a naval officer, Georgia state senator, governor, and President of the United States, Jimmy Carter served our nation with honor," said Sen. Cornyn. "His love for his home state of Georgia and for those he served through his beloved Maranatha Baptist Church and charities like Habitat for Humanity was evident throughout his life, and his legacy will remain a cherished part of our great American story. My prayers are with the entire Carter family during this time."

Jimmy Carter, who was the 39th president of the United States, was born on October 1, 1924, in Plains, Georgia. He grew up in Archery and later graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1946. His military career included serving as a Navy submariner in both the Atlantic and Pacific fleets before he resigned following his father's death in 1953 to return to Georgia.

Carter became an influential community leader by participating on county boards related to education, healthcare, and libraries. He entered politics as a Georgia State Senator in 1962 and went on to become the state's governor in 1971 before being elected president in 1976. Jimmy Carter passed away at age 100 in Plains, Georgia.
