Senators Ted Cruz, Michael Bennet, John Cornyn, and John Hickenlooper have successfully passed a bipartisan resolution in the Senate to commemorate National Hispanic Restaurant Week from September 22nd through October 3rd. This resolution aims to celebrate the contributions of Hispanic restaurants and their impact on communities.

Senator Cruz highlighted the cultural significance of Latino food, stating, “Growing up in a Cuban household in Texas, I know Latino food isn’t just about flavor—it’s about family, tradition, and community. From my Abuela’s empanadas, picadillo, and arroz con pollo, Hispanic cuisine is woven into the fabric of our lives." He added that these establishments are crucial in fostering community across Texas.

Senator Bennet expressed gratitude for the bipartisan effort to honor Hispanic restaurant workers and owners. He remarked,“Through their rich culinary traditions and hard work, Hispanic restaurant workers and owners contribute significantly to our communities and economy.”

The resolution received co-sponsorship from several other senators including Catherine Cortez Masto, Dick Durbin, Sheldon Whitehouse, Mark Kelly, Bob Menendez, Kyrsten Sinema, Jacky Rosen, and Ben Ray Luján. Representatives Yadira Caraveo and Tony Gonzalez also supported this initiative.

Support for the resolution came from various organizations such as the Hispanic Restaurant Association with backing from sponsors like Door Dash and Remy Martin among others.
