Election Day is set for tomorrow, December 14, for over three million Texans involved in the 2024 Local Runoff Elections. Voters will decide on key positions such as city council and mayor across various cities.

Marliza Marin, election protection manager of Common Cause Texas, emphasized the importance of these elections: “Local elections allow voters to directly impact their communities. In the slim margins of a runoff, every vote counts! Whether or not you cast a ballot in November, don’t miss your opportunity to help decide the future of your own streets, neighborhoods, and schools.”

Texans can update their voting address within the same county at any early voting location or Election Day polling place without a deadline.

Cities participating in these runoffs include Harlingen, Princeton, Copperas Cove, Glenn Heights, El Paso & Socorro, Missouri City, Schertz, Cibolo, Baytown, Trustee Dist. 1 of Lone Star College system in Harris County, Kyle, San Marcos, Weslaco, Groves, Corpus Christi and others.

To vote in person on December 14th:

- Bring valid (non-expired) photo/signature ID.

- Arrive during polling hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; those in line by closing time are allowed to vote.

For those who requested a vote-by-mail ballot:

- Sign the back of the ballot envelope and drop it off at county Supervisor of Elections offices by 7 p.m. It is too late to mail ballots.

- Check online trackers or call county elections offices to ensure ballots were received.

- If there is an issue with a signature on a mailed ballot, voters have until December 20th to correct it.

Voters with questions can reach out to the nonpartisan Election Protection hotline at 866-OUR-VOTE.
