U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) expressed support for President Trump's nominees for energy and environment positions during a speech on the Senate floor. He emphasized the significance of leveraging Texas' energy sector to ensure affordable and reliable energy across the United States.
Cornyn criticized the Biden administration, stating, "It should be no surprise to the Biden administration that Texans voted against a president who prioritized keeping radical climate activists happy at the expense of average Americans."
He conveyed confidence in President Trump's leadership, saying, "With President Trump at the helm, I have no doubt that Texans will be able to breathe a sigh of relief when it comes to their energy needs."
Cornyn praised Chris Wright, nominated by Trump to lead the Department of Energy, noting his extensive experience in oil and gas. He also welcomed former Congressman Lee Zeldin as Trump's choice for Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency and lauded Doug Burgum, former Governor of North Dakota, as an excellent pick for leading the Department of the Interior.
Cornyn concluded with optimism about collaborating with Trump's team: "I look forward to working with President Trump’s team, and I’m confident that together we can put the full force of the Texas energy sector back on display and, once again, unleash affordable, reliable, and secure energy right here in America."
