U.S. Senator Ted Cruz has been recognized as a 2024 Congressional Champion of Interior Enforcement by the National Immigration Center for Enforcement (NICE). The Texas senator, who is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and serves as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on the Constitution, was acknowledged for his efforts to enhance security at the southern border.
Senator Cruz received this accolade particularly for his work on the Justice for Jocelyn Act. This bill, which NICE considers a top priority, focuses on improving the detention and monitoring of illegal immigrants entering the United States.
In response to receiving this recognition, Senator Cruz stated: “Every day we hear about illegal aliens assaulting or murdering another American. I’ve been fighting for justice for Jocelyn Nungaray, a 12-year-old from Houston who was brutally murdered by two illegal aliens released into Texas under the administration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Next Congress I look forward to passing and to having President Trump sign into law my Justice for Jocelyn Act. This legislation is aimed at ensuring that no child and no family ever again experiences what happened to Jocelyn. I’ve been proud to work with some great allies on this bill, including NICE. Together, we will act to stop the crimes enabled by this Biden-Harris administration.”
Senator Cruz is one of five lawmakers recognized by NICE for their commitment to enforcing immigration laws within the U.S. interior. Other honorees include Senator Bill Hagerty from Tennessee and Representatives Byron Donalds from Florida, Mark Green from Tennessee, and Troy Nehls from Texas.
