Texas Empowerment Academy welcomed 399 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 399 students enrolled in Texas Empowerment Academy in the 2022-23 school year, 3.4% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.6% of them were boys, and 48.4% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were African American, representing 88.7% of the Texas Empowerment Academy total enrollment.

Texas Empowerment Academy roughly covers schools within Travis County with its main office in Austin.

Among the two schools in Texas Empowerment Academy, Texas Empowerment Academy recorded the highest enrollment of 242 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
