Governor Greg Abbott has announced the reappointment of William “Bill” Douglass as the presiding officer of the Grayson County Regional Mobility Authority. The term is set to expire on February 1, 2026. The Regional Mobility Authority serves as a political subdivision, enabling local transportation planning and project delivery leaders to collaborate with the state in delivering essential transportation infrastructure projects for Grayson County.

William “Bill” Douglass, a resident of Sherman, recently retired from his roles as owner and chairman of the board at Douglass Distributing. His previous leadership positions include roles at the National Association of Convenience Stores, American Petroleum Institute, and what is now known as the Transportation Energy Institute.

Douglass also holds significant community roles such as chairman of the Texoma Medical Center Board and member of the Austin College Board of Trustees. He has previously served as chairman for both the Sherman Economic Development Corporation and Medical Plaza Hospital in Sherman. Since 2013, he has been a gubernatorial appointee on the Red River Boundary Commission and joined the Grayson County Regional Mobility Authority in 2023.

In April, Douglass was honored with the Congressional Patriot Award, which is given in “recognition of the men and women who give their time and talent to make their community a better place for all.” Douglass earned his Bachelor of Science degrees in Economics and History from Muhlenberg College and was later awarded an honorary doctorate from Austin College.
