Governor Abbott Appoints Three To Texas Municipal Retirement System Board Of Trustees

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed individuals to serve on the Texas Municipal Retirement System Board of Trustees. Tommy Gonzalez of Midland, Tricia Mirabelle of Cedar Park, and Roel “Roy” Rodriguez, P.E. of McAllen have been selected for these roles.

Tommy Gonzalez, currently serving as the city manager for Midland, brings with him a wealth of experience. Gonzalez has a background in public sector excellence and holds leadership roles on several boards. He has received accolades such as the Baldrige Foundation E. David Spong Lifetime Leadership Award and has a military background, having served in the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Tricia Mirabelle, a commander with the Pflugerville Police Department, has been appointed to the Board. Mirabelle is actively involved in law enforcement organizations and has a strong educational background, including a Master of Science in Leadership and Management in Criminal Justice.

Roel “Roy” Rodriguez, P.E., the city manager for McAllen, is also joining the Board. Rodriguez has a history of serving in various capacities in organizations such as the Texas City Managers Association and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He has previously held leadership positions within the Texas Municipal Retirement System Board of Trustees.

The Texas Municipal Retirement System Board of Trustees oversees the retirement benefits for eligible employees of over 800 cities in the state. The appointments of Gonzalez, Mirabelle, and Rodriguez are set to expire in the coming years, with each member bringing a unique set of skills and experiences to the Board.
