WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) criticized President Biden's economic policies, stating that the administration has no plan to address inflation. Cornyn highlighted the financial strain faced by American families due to rising inflation and excessive government spending.
"People who once lived comfortably are now living paycheck to paycheck," Cornyn remarked, emphasizing the economic challenges many Americans are currently facing. He pointed out that "The average household in Texas is spending $1,000 a month more today than they did in January of 2021 when President Biden was sworn into office."
Cornyn accused the Biden administration of downplaying the impact of inflation, stating, "He and the leaders of his administration have tried to downplay the impact of inflation, but the American people aren’t buying it." He further highlighted the significant increase in prices, noting that "In only four years, the price of a pretty standard grocery run has increased by 36 percent."
Regarding Biden's proposed spending, Cornyn criticized the lack of a comprehensive plan to address economic challenges, stating, "President Biden has absolutely no plan other than to continue to spend more and more money, to pour more and more gasoline on the fire." He also speculated that the President may be disconnected from the crisis, saying, "I suspect he is, frankly, just oblivious to the crisis because it doesn’t affect him living in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue."
In conclusion, Cornyn expressed concern about the current trajectory of the country and called for a change in direction, stating, "The American people are not fooled. They know we’re on the wrong course, and we need to correct that course come November."
