Governor Greg Abbott commended the City of Corinth for being designated as a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community by the Texas Music Office. He highlighted the economic impact of the music industry in Texas, stating that it accounted for over 192,000 jobs and generated more than $26 billion in economic activity statewide in 2022.
Representative Richard Hayes expressed pride in the legendary Texas culture and congratulated Corinth on its certification, citing the city as a vibrant example of the music community's best.
Mayor Bill Heidemann highlighted the significance of Corinth's certification as a Music Friendly Texas Community, noting the city's new public amphitheater at the Commons at Agora Park and its commitment to attracting performers and developing the local music industry.
City Manager Scott Campbell shared the city's focus on becoming a Music Friendly Texas Community, expressing pride in achieving this goal and announcing plans for new musical events to be hosted in Corinth.
President of the Lake Cities Chamber of Commerce and Corinth Council Member Tina Henderson emphasized the benefits of being recognized as a Music Friendly Texas Community, stating that it provides valuable tools and resources to music industry professionals in the region.
The Music Friendly Texas Community Certification Ceremony, scheduled for April 4, will be cohosted by the Texas Music Office, the City of Corinth, and the Corinth Economic Development Corporation. The event will feature speakers from the Corinth community and city leaders, with TMO Community Relations & Outreach Specialist Chip Adams presenting the designation. The ceremony will take place at Corinth City Hall and will be open to both in-person and virtual attendance.
Corinth now joins the ranks as the 59th Music Friendly Texas Certified Community, with more information about the Music Friendly Texas program available on the governor's website. The Texas Music Office, established in 1990, plays a crucial role in fostering the economic development of Texas music businesses, musicians, and communities, supporting job creation, tourism, and business recruitment efforts across the state.
