Governor Greg Abbott has issued an Executive Order aimed at combating the rise in acts of antisemitism at colleges and universities in Texas. The order is intended to ensure a safe learning environment for Jewish students and all Texans. Governor Abbott emphasized, "Antisemitism is never acceptable in Texas, and we will do everything we can to fight it." He also stated, "The State of Texas stands with Israel and the Jewish community, and we must escalate our efforts to protect against antisemitism at Texas colleges and universities and across our state."

The Executive Order mandates that all higher education institutions in Texas review their free speech policies to address antisemitic rhetoric on campuses, enforce policies combating antisemitic acts, and incorporate the definition of antisemitism in free speech guidelines.

Governor Abbott has implemented various measures to enhance security and combat antisemitism in Texas, particularly in response to the actions of Hamas. These include distributing over $4 million in grant funding to Jewish organizations for security enhancements, directing heightened public safety measures in coordination with local and federal agencies, and issuing an order to refrain from purchasing goods from Gaza or organizations linked to Hamas.

Additionally, the Governor has lowered Texas flags to half-staff in remembrance of lives lost during the conflict in Israel, as well as bolstered education resources to increase awareness of the Israel-Hamas war among Texas students.

Throughout his tenure, Governor Abbott has demonstrated support for the Jewish community and efforts to combat antisemitism. Initiatives include establishing the Texas Holocaust, Genocide, and Antisemitism Advisory Commission, allocating funding for security enhancements in places of worship like synagogues, and prohibiting state agencies from conducting business with entities that boycott Israel.
