Cornyn Highlights Bills Signed Into Law in 2023

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) celebrated the success of several bills he sponsored that were signed into law during the first year of the 118th Congress. Looking back on the accomplishments, Sen. Cornyn expressed his pride and optimism for future progress.

Among the bills that became law are the Securing American Acquisitions, Readiness, and Military Stockpiles (ARMS) Act, the Sensible Classification Act, the Cranes of Concern at our Ports (CCP) Act, the Airport Infrastructure Resources (AIR) Security Act, and the Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act. These bills address important issues such as defense procurement, classification system oversight, port security, airport infrastructure, and educational enrichment programs.

Reflecting on these achievements, Sen. Cornyn stated, "As we close out the first half of the 118th Congress, I’m proud to see several critical bills I’ve sponsored cross the finish line and am hopeful we can build on this progress in the coming year."

Additionally, there are several bills sponsored by Sen. Cornyn that have been passed by the Senate and are now awaiting action in the House of Representatives. These bills include the Debbie Smith Act reauthorization, the Project Safe Neighborhoods Grant Program Authorization Act, the Project Safe Childhood Act, the Find and Protect Foster Youth Act, the American Law Enforcement Sustaining Aid and Vital Emergency Resources (SAVER) Act, the Meaningful Access to Court Proceedings for Victims of Pan Am Flight 103 Act, the Customs-Trade Partnerships Against Terrorism (CTPAT) Pilot Program Act, the Starr-Camargo Bridge Expansion Act, and the Improving Access to Our Courts Act. These bills cover a wide range of issues, from forensic analyses of crime scenes to law enforcement programs, child exploitation, foster youth care, law enforcement access to trauma kits, victim rights, counterterrorism efforts, cross-border trade, and access to federal court proceedings.

Sen. Cornyn's dedication and effectiveness in the Senate have been recognized, as he was named the most effective Republican Senator for the 117th Congress by the Center for Effective Lawmaking.

The achievements of Sen. Cornyn in getting multiple bills signed into law demonstrate his commitment to addressing important issues and making a positive impact on the lives of Americans.
